Occupational Therapy Services

The role of an occupational therapist in an outpatient rehabilitation facility is to assist individuals in becoming as independent as possible in their daily lives. Skills are learned in an inpatient setting, then refined by the outpatient facility.
Continuing the process of rehabilitation has an ultimate goal to restore the patient’s independence in the home environment. The occupational therapist plays a critical role in refining functionality so that patients may participate in mainstream society.
The occupational therapist works in conjunction with physical therapists, speech pathologists, social workers, and the physician to facilitate a patient’s recovery and return them to normal living.
The occupational therapist will also work closely within the family unit to provide information, give progress updates, and to answer any questions or concerns regarding the patient.
